Exelon is the largest regulated electric utility in the United States with approximately 10 million customers. I partnered closely with Exelon's human resources department for 4 years as the lead designer for their wellness program materials.
When I was assigned this client they were unhappy with stock photos, so I pitched the concept of custom illustrations. Their 33K employees loved the illustrations!

It all started with a comment from the client "we like the playful broccoli poster your team made for the finalist presentation, can we have something more like that?" From there I explored some mood boards with vegetable characters. The client liked the direction so I kept ideating.

The carrot character was the first to be approved by the client. In order to communicate the concept of a biometric (wellness) screening we experimented with making one carrot the nurse / doctor and the other carrot the patient. Photographic texture for the leaves, clipboard, and backdrop was incorporated to add visual interest.

I worked closely with the writer on illustration concepts that lead themselves to clever headlines. We both loved puns, so for the annual mailer we played with the headlines "A perfect Pairing" and "Cherry Pick."

It was important to the client that we depict the colors of fall and a pathway for our characters to walk on. This challenge incentivizes employees who track at least 40K steps on their registered FitBit per week by gifting them up to $250 off their health insurance premiums per month.
